"The earth is primary, everything else is derivative. Knowledge of this fact and the interrelationship and interdependence of all its living systems must be the central organizing principle for civilization."

The Mandate of the Education Committee is to raise consciousness that all human endeavours rely on natural capital and to promote pragmatic participation in activities that support watershed ecosystem sustainability.

The BMWTF Educational Committee's actions may include, but are not exclusive to the following:

*Enter into partnerships to deliver relevant curriculum to support environmental education.

*Support community initiatives promoting behavioral changes to improve ecosystem habitat.

* Promote public and student participation in monitoring and rehabilitation efforts such as tree-planting and monitoring of stream communities.

* Promote the participation of students and other citizens in the advancement of environmental public policy, such as a ban on the use of unnecessary pesticides, the preservation of essential ecosystem functions and ecological land use planning.

* Promote the support of locally-grown organic foods including involvement in school garden initiatives.
