The Blue Mountain Watershed is under considerable threat from development and population pressures, resource extraction, consumptive recreational activities, agriculture, habitat loss and environmental degradation, and an excess of human interference with natural processes. Though the Watershed is an area of considerable beauty and attracts many people to the area, it is also highly sensitive.
The BMWT is committed to educating landowners, residents and visitors about the need to treat softly on the watershed. At the same time, we are vocal advocates for sound environmental practice, ecological thinking and a sensible treatment of the natural world.
The BMWT is working on a number of issues of concern throughout the watershed and has been kept busy by ever-increasing growth and development pressures in area municipalities. Click on the links below to learn about some of our more recent activities. |
